Deron GenerallyThe CW and Berlanti Productions announced that they would be bringing back the popular Cartoon Network animated series The Powerpuff Girls and this new iteration would be live action.
Now they’ve announced the actresses who will be playing the superpowered heroines in the CW series. The series will find the former child heroes as twenty somethings who regret having their childhoods taken from them, but must come together again when the world needs them. The pilot episode is written by Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier and directed by Maggie Kiley.
According to Deadline, actors Chloe Bennett, Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault have been cast as the Powerpuff Girls for the series.
Chloe Bennett will take on the role of Blossom Utonium. The former leader of the team has become a recluse because of the traumas of her youth, but she wants to be a leader again on her own terms. Bennett is known for her role of Daisy Johnson aka Quake on the ABC series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Dove Cameron will take on the role of Bubbles. The sweet one with a tough streak, Bubbles is more interested in recapturing her fame than saving the world. Cameron is known for her roles in series like Liv and Maddie and the Descendants series of films.
Yana Perrault will take on the role of rebellious badass Buttercup. After being considered the toughest member of the team, Buttercup just wants a quiet, anonymous life. Perrault is an actress and singer who most recently starred in the Broadway Musical Jagged Little Pill.
