The Rundown: Charlie and Vita are going to find that the journey to Vegas will be as harrowing as everything else they’ve been through.
Charlie and Vita are leaving Los Angeles and bringing their problems with them. As the media continues to cover their story and the price on Charlie’s head grows, even those in the press can’t help but try and get a piece of the action. The only Vita is going to keep Charlie safe is to disguise her and take her on a dangerous and unpredictable trip to Sin City itself.
The new leg of their journey will become as dangerous as the others when Charlie does what she always does when separated from technology too long and Vita is left to clean up her mess which usually means maiming and injuring people trying to kill her charge. In the midst of the melee, Vita is going to learn that Charlie is keeping more secrets from secrets. Secrets that could one or both of them killed.
The Story: Christopher Sebela doesn’t miss a beat as he takes the reader back into the twisted, action-packed and often hilarious adventures of Charlie and Vita. The character dynamics are brilliant and the dialogue between the two characters is some of the best I’ve read in comics lately. There is a natural and fun antagonism between these two characters and it engages the reader to root for the two of them. The pacing is great and giving us another piece of the puzzle of why Charlie is a target keeps the reader locked in to the story and where it’s going.
The Art: Ro Stein and Ted Brandt deliver some incredibly detailed art. All of the panels look great and the action is fantastic. There are some great cinema-style moments in the action and the art has a sense of immediacy and movement.
