The Rundown: The party splits up to follow leads that could reach as high as the throne of Emon.
Vox Machina splits up to follow some leads into a failed assassination attempt. Percy and Vex lead members of the team into the home of Sir Gregory Fince but are unable to save him from being killed by demons. At the same time, Vax and Pike infiltrate the Clasp and find themselves captured due to a poor attempt at stealth.
As members of the team take down the demons and look for clues, Pike decides to get some information from the leader of the Clasp. Information that could lead Vox Machina to someone close to the sovereign.
The Story: Houser crafts a fun and thrilling adventure for fans of Critical Role and Vox Machina. There are great moments between the characters and I love seeing the unlikely duo of Vax and Pike deal with the realities of a Cleric trying to sneak around with a Rogue. The story does a fantastic job of rounding out the characters, their interactions and building on the world for fans and new readers as the group finds itself involved in an interesting and compelling mystery.
The Art: Hayes delivers some great art throughout the issue. The visuals are brilliantly detailed and the character designs are fantastic. Sousa’s colors brilliantly illuminate the art and bring the characters to wonderful visual life.
