The Rundown: Teeg Lawless returns in a story that parallels the story from last issue from a different point of view.
Teeg is in love with Jane, a beautiful young con woman who used to run with his current partner. When the three meet up at a bar, Teeg can’t stop thinking about her. Unfortunately, she leaves with his partner and later Teeg finds himself staring down the barrel of a gun when the two former lovers have a deadly falling out.
The standoff has a happy ending for Teeg who ends up running off with Jane and living it up on the money they stole until their funds get low and thoughts of the next score fill their minds.
The Story: Ed Brubaker’s gritty, noir style of story continues to be compelling and engaging to the reader. The characters are fantastically well written and realized. The dialogue is amazing and the plot moves at a great pace that is filled with both the exhilaration and mounting fear that Teeg is feeling throughout. Can’t wait to see where this story goes next and how it connects to the others in this series.
The Art: Sean Phillips perfectly matches the tone and style of this story with the beautiful art work. Everything looks amazing and there are some inspired shots throughout the art.
