The Rundown: Teeg will suffer a devastating loss and things will only get worse for the Lawless family when the truth is revealed.
Teeg wakes up from being shot and realizes that the guy who shot him wasn’t trying to kill him and Jane was the target. After getting to his feet, one of his buddies comes on the scene and the two give chase. Jane realizes that she has feelings for Teeg and fights back against her would be rescuer. A move that ends in tragedy for everyone involved.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Ricky has to tell his father the truth about his role in what happened after seeing how Teeg is dealing with events. A violent encounter follows and more tragedy befalls the Lawless family.
The Story: Brubaker continues to push this story in some interesting and engaging directions. The plot is exciting and filled with tension throughout. The story starts with tension and action that culminates in a moment of great drama. Standing outside the story and watching events unfold, one can appreciate all the different character points of view and how all the stories come together with one tragedy after another. I really enjoy this series and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
The Art: Sean Phillips plays up the film noir quality of the story with brilliant visuals that perfectly complement the story. The chase sequence is beautifully done and the way the panels are laid out is amazing.
