The Rundown: Jerri continues to stumble in her personal and professional life, but a new purpose might be what she needs to forge a new path.
Hitting what could potentially be her bottom, Jerri decides to do the one thing she never thought she would; she goes to an AA meeting. After sitting in the room and listening to others share, the confession of one of the attendees gets her attention and she heads home to follow up on a potential lead. When she gets a call from a familiar voice, the conversation sends her on a downward spiral.
It’s a powerful moment that leads Jerri to a new sense of determination. After confronting the previous Count Crowley about the monsters in her town, she finds out that one of them is targeting someone close to her. Jerri decides to put her past and vices behind her and focus on the task at hand. A task that will not only be the beginning of a new life, but will get the attention of some dark forces.
The Story: Dastmalcian brings this first arc for the character to a satisfying and entertaining conclusion. One that leaves the possibility for more interesting and entertaining stories to tell for Jerri and her newfound calling. One of the most interesting aspects of the story is how Jerri evolves as a character and how her arc in this issue becomes a motivating factor that pushing her towards thoughts beyond her own pain. This is an incredibly well done story that begs for more with the satisfying cliffhanger ending.
The Art: Lucas Ketner delivers some beautiful artwork in this issue. The panels are filled with glorious details and the action is fantastic. A great looking issue from start to finish.
