The Rundown: Jerri is on the run and with everyone turning on her, she turns to the one person who might have answers.
The new Count Crowley has just gotten into a car versus zombie knockdown fight that leaves Jerri’s car damaged and a severed hand sitting in her passenger seat. With the creature that attacked her missing, Jerri heads to a local liquor store to “pick up” some food for the cat and something for herself.
Eventually, she makes her way to a nursing home where she discovers the original Count Crowley. When she tries to get help from him and he refuses, she leaves (but not empty-handed). When another body is found in an attack that sounds familiar, Jerri heads to the scene. But will she be able to stop what’s coming when she’s pushed away everyone who cares about her?
The Story: With the mystery getting deeper and the stakes rising, David Dastmalchian takes the time to dive deeper into the character of Jerri. The tone of this issue is very engaging because the theme of consequences is woven throughout and with Jerri on her own, the consequences of her actions are finally starting to dawn on her at the moment she needs people the most. I can’t wait to see where this story lands because everything so far, including this issue, teases something big intense and fun to come.
The Art: Lukas Ketner delivers some beautiful art in this issue. Everything, including the characters and backgrounds, is filled with gorgeous detail and I continue to love the style of the art and how it reminds me of the old EC horror comics.
