The Rundown: A surviving astronaut fights to survive on a lush alien world.

A four person mission to an alien world will find Evolutionary Biologist Orrin Kutela alone when an accident on their lander results in the death of everyone else on board. Alone and isolated on an alien world, Orrin must find a way to combat the loneliness of his surroundings, the unknown environment and the slim possibility of rescue.

His trek through the lush environment of the planet will create more difficulties as he discovers that the local wildlife is hard to hunt and everything he consumes proves to be toxic. Unfortunately, he also doesn’t know that there are other inhabitants on the planet.

The Story: Arcudi creates a deeply thoughtful and emotional story in this first issue. There are moments of quiet beauty mixed in with melancholy and a healthy dose of intense isolation that create some incredibly interesting moments throughout the issue. There is something uniquely scary about this character’s slow deterioration and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

The Art: Finely delivers some absolutely beautiful art throughout the issue. The visuals create some amazing vistas and landscapes that capture the eye and the imagination.
