The Rundown: A new threat emerges targeting New York and Marvel’s first family will be the first to face it.
In an unknown tunnel beneath the tempe in K’un-Lun, Yu-Ti will come face to face with a mysterious infection that has killed two of the priests who went to investigate. Unfortunately, a third has gone missing.
On Yancy Street, Ben Grimm is shopping when a young boy asks for his help finding his missing friends in an abandoned subway tunnel. When he arrives, he finds one of the kids suffering from a devastating infection. He also discovers an infected Mole Man and his Moloids waiting to strike.
Calling in the rest of the Fantastic Four, the team gathers to fight back the creatures, but in the process they come face to face with the source of the infection. Meanwhile, a sleeping Danny Rand is awakened by a visitor with an ominous message.
The Story: Ed Brisson doesn’t pull any punches with this first issue and establishes right away that no one is safe as the infection does its work. The action moves quickly and the story ramps up the danger for both the Fantastic Four and the rest of the city. It’s going to be interesting to see where this story goes next and what twists and turns Brisson has in store for the heroes of the Marvel universe.
The Art: Rose Antonio delivers some impressive art in this issue. All of the characters are drawn beautifully and the action looks amazing. There are some great expressive moments from the characters and thrills throughout.
