The Rundown: The Crisis Command gets closer to who is responsible for the murder of empathy while one of their own hides a surprising connection to the victim.
The man responsible for the murder of Empathy has his own ideas about the world and has decided that he will consume what he’s killed causing an unexpected effect within him. After bringing the victim back to life, the man known as Simon, is both disoriented and upset about what happened to him and why. As the Crisis Command works to figure out what happened, Nina decides to give the man the opportunity to live to the fullest on his final day on the planet.
Unfortunately, Nina knows more about the man than she let on and decides to spend he day with him as he pieces together the circumstances of his murder. As another Crisis Alert calls the team away, Nina remembers her past with Simon. The team discovers that there is more to the latest alert than they realized and that something is affecting them. Something that is linked to the current events.
The Story: Steve Orlando adds an element of intrigue to this issue and it is effective is giving deeper meaning to the murder of empathy and his connection to the team. The characters continue to be interesting both personally and in their nuances. I enjoy the broad reach of this story and how Orlando manages to keep the mystery on a human level so that it continues to be engaging to the reader.
The Art: Tinto delivers some awesome visuals in this issue. There are some great details to be found throughout and both the characters and the backgrounds look fantastic.
