It’s been a long, slow climb for Fox’s final mutant adventure, but there are still growing signs that we could see Josh Boone’s final product this year.
With San Diego Comic-Con going digital this year, more viewers were given the opportunity to check out something special with the release of the opening scene of the long awaited X-Men spinoff film The New Mutants.
Bill Sienkiewicz, whose “Demon Bear” storyline in the comics serves as inspiration for the film says of it; “People have talked about it being a cursed film because it’s taking forever, but in some respects the lockdown has amped up interest.”
The film, directed by Josh Boone, was completed in 2017 but has had a rough journey to the big screen. The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton Alice Braga, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga. The film is still tentatively scheduled for release August 28, 2020.
