The last time we saw Colossus in the X-Men timeline of films was in X-Men: Days of Future Past (I’m not discounting Deadpool, calm down internet). Well the actor who originated the role of Colossus on-screen is returning to the franchise.
Daniel Cudmore’s first role on-screen was in the 2003 film X2: X-Men United or X2 or X-Men 2 or whatever the hell it’s called. He played the role of Piotr Rasputin aka Colossus in that film and the sequel X-Men: The Last Stand. He went on to a role in the Twilight franchise of films and guest appearances on series like Fringe and Arrow. Well it looks like the actor is returning for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, but there might be a hitch. He might not be playing Colossus at all.
While many people believe Cudmore is coming back to play Colossus, the actor himself would not specify who he is playing in a tweet.
I can’t comment on what character I’m playing, sorry.. https://t.co/WSEJkVsm6Z

This has led many to believe that the actor might be taking on the role of Gladiator, Captain of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard.
Gladiator is a powerful, Superman-esque character that protects Lilandra. Could Cudmore be coming back to play the powerhouse? With a new actor firmly in place as Colossus in the Deadpool movies, it makes sense.
