The Rundown: Jake’s investigation comes to an explosive conclusion.
Nineteen years before both the city and the police commissioner wonder what has happened to the Sentinel. The mysterious vigilante has disappeared and the press has questions about both his absence and his methods. In the present, Jake goes to see someone who might have some answers about the identity of the missing vigilante. Information that casts more doubt on whether the Sentinel was actually doing any good in the city or if his presence was making things worse.
After getting a call from Gale that he needs to come in, Jake discovers that there has been another attack. One close to home. With no more options, Jake goes to see the man who hired him. A man who is hiding more than one secret and will do whatever it takes to protect them.
The Story: Richardson brings this story to a satisfying, shocking and entertaining conclusion. I love all of the mystery elements of the plot as well as the noir style of the story. The story takes some really dark turns throughout and perfectly encapsulates the tone and mood of the series. I love all the little twists in the plot and how they set up more stories to come.
The Art: Armengol delivers some fantastic art in this finale. The imagery is evocative and the art style perfectly captures the tone and mood of the story itself.
