Actor Christopher Meloni is reprising his iconic role for a new Law & Order spinoff series from creator Dick Wolf.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Meloni will reprise the role of Elliot Stabler for a new procedural drama from Dick Wolf. Meloni originated the role of Sex Crimes Detective Elliot Stabler on the Law & Order spinoff Special Victims Unit in 1999 and stayed on the series until his character departed during its 12th season. SVU is currently in its 21st season on NBC.
The new series will focus on Stabler leading the Organized Crime Unit of the NYPD, so cameos and crossovers are definitely in the cards with the possibility of Stabler re-teaming with former partner Olivia Benson played by Mariska Hargitay. Dick Wolf will executive produce alongside Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski. The series has been given a 13 episode straight-to-series order from the network, but it is unclear whether the series will air on the NBC network or the upcoming streaming service Peacock.
Christopher Meloni can next be seen in the comedy series Maxxx.
