Netflix is getting ready to premiere its new batch of original programming with a new series that takes a jump back to the 80’s.
GLOW or the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling premiered on television in 1986 and ran for four seasons. The series was big, loud and extremely popular. Netflix is taking audiences back to that time with their new series GLOW from the team behind Orange is the New Black. Alison Brie stars as Ruth Wilder, an out-of-work actress who finds one last chance for stardom when she auditions for the first-ever women’s wrestling TV show.
The series definitely has a retro feel that will remind viewers fondly of the period while highlighting the gender stereotypes of the 80’s and the professional wrestling industry. Take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think.
GLOW will premiere with all ten episodes on Netflix June 23rd.
