The Rundown: Alleytown is in crisis after a deadly event. Catwoman faces off against Father Valley.
Mayor Nakano uses heavy handed tactics against the citizens of Alleytown. Meanwhile, The Strays show Catwoman the improvements they have made to their setup. Then, a mysterious ally reveals his identity. And Catwoman learns that her old friends have reconvened to assist her in protecting her neighborhood. Later, after Catwoman and her friends visit an ally, Father Valley shows up in an unexpected manner. A deadly confrontation then occurs and leaves Catwoman in a compromising position. Elsewhere, Detective Hadley makes a difficult choice.
The Story: Ram V once again delivers an intense and action packed chapter filled with content. I am impressed with the direction of this plot line. Especially the way it shows how the citizens of Alleytown are affected by the rise of the Magistrate. I find Catwoman’s internal struggle compelling and enjoy watching her interactions with The Strays. The cliffhanger ending definitely peaked my interest, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.
The Art: The artwork in this issue is magnificent. The action scenes are intense and engaging. And the overall tone of the story is perfectly captured. Blanco and Bellaire use traditional drawing and bold color work in a way that is both visually appealing and emotionally stimulating.
