The 2K first person shooter video game Borderlands is getting a big screen adaptation and could feature a two time Oscar winner in its cast.
According to Deadline, actress Cate Blanchett is in talks to take on a role in the upcoming Borderlands movie. Eli Roth (Hostel, The Green Inferno) will direct the film based on the bestselling video game series. According to the Deadline article the game; Borderlands is set in the distant future, in which four “Vault Hunters” travel to the distant planet Pandora to hunt down an alien vault, rumored to contain advanced alien technology. The hunters find themselves battling the local wildlife and bandit population, but ultimately attempt to stop the head of a private corporation army from reaching the vault first.
Blanchett is in talks to take on the role of Lilith. In the game, Lilith belongs to the powerful “Siren” class. There are only six women in the universe that belong to that class and her powers include a phasewalk ability that allows her to become invisible for a time as well as deal electrical or fire damage to enemies.
Cate Blanchett won two academy awards for her roles in Blue Jasmine and The Aviator. She worked with Eli Roth in the 2018 film The House with A Clock in Its Walls and has starred in films like Thor: Ragnarok, Ocean’s Eight and more.
