Deron GenerallyThe next Star Wars spinoff series set for Disney+ has found a showrunner with an impressive pedigree in television mysteries.
According to Deadline, Lucasfilm and Disney have tapped producer Stephen Schiff to take on the series based on the character Cassian Andor from the Star Wars prequel Rogue One. Actor Diego Luna will return to the role and said of his return; “Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” Luna said after the series was announced. “We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
Schiff is known for his five year stint on the extremely popular and critically acclaimed spy drama The Americans where he rose to executive producer. His credits also include either writing or co-writing features films like Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, The Deep End of the Ocean, True Crime and 2017’s American Assassin.
Writers have been hired and a writer’s room is being prepared. Production on the untitled series is set to begin next year.
