The Rundown: As Binary continues to find her own identity, Carol Danvers faces the consequences of her magical adventure.
Carol Danvers magical fight against Ove has brought her before a tribunal of magic users led by Agatha Harkness. Unable to escape or even understand the proceedings, Carol finds herself at the mercy of magic users and their judgement of her is both quick and unexpected. Only a last minute suggestion from Wanda gives Carol any chance of surviving a sentence she doesn’t know she’s serving.
On Earth, Binary continues to struggle with her identity and goes to Jessica for help. As the two discuss things, including the missing Danvers, they find their lunch interrupted by a horde of vampires on the attack and the arrival of an angry Lauri-Ell who wants answers.
The Story: Thompson continues to develop some interesting and compelling stories for Carol in this issue. The story does a great job of telling two separate plots while finding a great way to connect them both in theme and emotion. Carol’s trial was wonderfully intense and Binary’s journey continues to be entertaining.
The Art: Frigeri and Lopez deliver some great art throughout the issue. The different styles work beautifully together and perfectly complement the story.
