The Rundown: Carol and Rhodey’s vacation takes a detour to outer space.
After personal and professional setbacks, Carol and Rhodey decide to give their relationship the time and space that it deserves. Unfortunately, their attempt to get away on vacation will get complicated by the appearance of Carol’s Kree sister Lauri who needs her help regarding their mother.
The three find themselves on Thronworld II at the facility that keeps the DNA of lost Kree warriors. They discover that there is an entity beneath the facility that is devouring genetic material and they go to investigate. When attempts to reason with the creature fail, the three must fight for their lives not knowing there is something else behind the creature’s attack.
The Story: A fun and entertaining story that has an engaging tone. Thompson finds a great mix of humor and character development in this issue and the banter between the characters is entertaining. The story does a great job of giving the reader a look at Carol’s relationship with Rhodes and how they interact with each other. I like seeing their relationship evolve and everything in the story seems to be leading to a new mystery that could be compelling.
The Art: Miyazawa delivers some great art throughout the issue. The visuals are great and they beautifully capture the tone and mood of the story. A great looking issue from start to finish.
