After taking out both Thor and Iron Man, Carol Danvers has Vox Supreme believing that she is under his control. With both heroes in a pocket dimension, Carol explains why she’s doing what she is and the fact that there are bombs placed throughout the world that could devastate the populace is the only reason her teammates are going along. Unfortunately, her plan still has holes in it because she doesn’t have the first clue how to stop events from spiraling out of control.

After leaving her friends behind, she is lured to the desert and ambushed by Black Panther. Unable to tell him what is going on, she fights to disable him, especially his suit. As she gets close to victory, she underestimates the chairman too late to realize she’s about to take on two Avengers at once.

The Story: Kelly Thompson ramps up the action and tension in this issue. The story moves with speed and precision, but it allows for entertaining character interactions between Carol and her teammates. The conversation in the pocket universe is great and even her narration is fantastic. The story is laid out in a manner where there are interesting twists throughout the story and this issue ends with an impressive and exciting cliffhanger.

The Art: Lee Garbett captures the power and action of this story perfectly. The fight between Carol and Black Panther is graceful and beautiful to look at. A great looking issue from start to finish.
