The Rundown: Steve learns more about the organization he’s hunting while Bucky confronts what he thought was a friend.
The Outer Circle has dispatched a creature known as Redacted to not only destroy Steve Rogers, but also erase him from history. Steve takes on the creature in a pitched battle that will bring him to the heart of a secret facility where he will encounter a message from the man who made his shield. A message and a warning about the people behind its creation.
Bucky confronts an undercover Peggy Carter in Madripoor and lays out her history of covert missions. Missions that will have a connection to the aims of the Outer Circle. Peggy does take kindly to being told she’s been a stooge and her response will be swift, violent and dangerous.
The Story: I continue to be enamored and impressed with the intrigue in this story. Both sides of the story are compelling and the immediate danger Steve faces versus the quiet danger Bucky is in wonderfully complement each other in the narrative. The action is thrilling and the story showcases these characters brilliantly along with creating an interesting villain at the center of the conspiracy.
The Art: Carnero delivers some beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. I love the classic action of Steve’s story and was impressed with the visual style of the Bucky/Peggy confrontation.
