The next phase of the Power Elite’s plans are going into action and Steve Rogers is helpless to do anything but wait.
Not content with just having Captain America tucked away in a secret prison run by one of his greatest enemies, the Power Elite decide to have Hydra Steve released with a full pardon.
The real Steve Rogers is spending his days under the control of Baron Strucker and the only way he knows he will be able to survive the sadistic warden’s facility is to keep his head down, wait and trust in his friends.
Not content to leave Steve to his fate, Sharon decides to pay a visit to Mayor Fisk. She wants to exchange information with the former Kingpin and she’s sure that he knows more about the death of Ross than he’s letting on. When she threatens him with information she has from sources he doesn’t know about, the two come to an understanding.
As Steve deals with the legacy of his double in prison, Hydra Steve gets a rude awakening from his liberators and Sharon assembles a team to hunt down who really killed Thunderbolt Ross.
Ta-Nehisi Coates is crafting a throughly entertaining and engaging thriller with this current storyline. Tearing down Cap as a symbol is allowing Steve to discover what it means to be a hero and what he’s willing to fight for. All of the reveals have been interesting and the dialogue is smart and full of tension. The interaction between Fisk and Sharon alone is chilling.
Adam Kubert delivers some beautifully detailed art in both character and composition.
