Calamity Kate #2
Dark Horse Comics
Written by Magdalene Visaggio
Art by Corin Howell
Colors by Valentina Pinto
Letters by Zakk Saam
The competition to be the best is heating up and Kate finds herself trailing behind the current leader and media darling Javelin in the rankings.
To add insult to injury, when a frustrated Kate goes out and finds herself dealing with a group of rampaging goblins, her hunt is interrupted by another appearance of Javelin.
kate decides that enough is enough and she is about to employ some serious tactics to find out what is giving her competition the edge and stop it once and for all.
Meanwhile, at home, Kate’s constant, angry outbursts are taking a toll on Vera. Having, in essence, a second child in the house, Vera is dealing with both Kate’s crap and how it is effecting her young daughter Jade. Even in moments alone, Jade starts to act out like Kate and her past comes back to haunt her.
Magdalene Visaggio ramps up the drama and tension for Kate and her war against Javelin. Even with the seriousness of the situation, Visaggio manages to keep many of the elements light and injects a lot of humor into the issue.
The art by Corin Howell is great. All of the fight scenes are great and are full of energy. It’s a beautiful looking issue.
