Cable and Avery lead a mission to rescue hostages that have sensitive information about the Conclave and the drug they use to suppress the virus the resistance is infected with. As they complete their part of the mission, the techno-organic virus in Avery asserts itself and Cable almost loses her while also dealing with a sniper attack from Cicada.
In the aftermath of the mission, Avery and Cable’s tension spills over into something else and the pair reveal more about themselves before suiting up for another mission. A mission that will bring them into a Conclave stronghold where they encounter a dangerous experiment designed to take them out for good and a fight that could end Cable.
The Story: Pepose delivers a thrilling, intense and entertaining story in this issue. I continue to love the tension between the characters and seeing Cable navigate new and unknown circumstances. The dynamic between him and Avery is great and I love the looming threat of Cicada and what that could mean for the relationship going forward. Pepose crafts interesting and unique world building into this story and I want to see more of it explored.
The Art: Henderson delivers fantastic art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of the series and the action is beautifully detailed.
