Dark Horse Comics

Written by Mark Verheiden and Aaron Douglas

Art by Cliff Richards

Letters by Jim Campbell

The Rundown: Sil continues her investigation while a dark power grows inside her.

The ghosts of Sil’s past continue to haunt her as she investigates multiple murders during an illegal liquor shipment. Unfortunately, there are very few clues to the attack and the man who engineered the shipment finds himself in trouble with his boss.

While Ponzi finds himself dealing with his boss’ hotheaded and trigger happy son, Sil’s grandmother tries to warn her about the power inside her and its connection to her late mother. A warning that will come too late when old mother is injured and Sil’s rage threatens to destroy everyone.

The Story: Verheiden and Douglas hit the ground running in this follow up issue. The action is great. The mystery and characters are compelling and I really enjoy the dark tone of the story. There is a great sense of isolation and atmosphere throughout this issue and all of it engages the reader in this dark and dangerous storyline with its flawed characters and compelling stakes.

The Art: Richards delivers beautiful art throughout the issue. The atmosphere and isolation of the location are beautifully created to maximize the tone of the story.
