The Rundown: Celia and Dr. Rose venture into a frozen hellscape to rescue Tim Hunter from his doppelganger.
Tim Hunter is on the run from his villainous doppelganger in a frozen hell devoid of life. As Celia and Dr. Rose try to help him escape, a note in the book he’s protecting warms him what will happen if he leaves the book behind and Tim chooses to stay on the run to protect the people he loves.
As things get more perilous for the young wizard, the two women trying to protect him journey to the frozen world to bring him back. Unfortunately, they find that Tim’s double is more powerful than they imagined and that there is something strange about the world itself and its connection to Tim.
The Story: Kat Howard continues to make Tim’s personal journey perilous and engaging with each new issue. From the plot to the dialogue, it is easy to empathize with Tim as he’s pulled from one direction to another with forces allying both with and against him constantly. Howard does an amazing job of keeping the story moving in interesting directions that keep the reader invested in the characters and their world.
The Art: Tom Fowler impresses with the art throughout this issue. From the awesome backgrounds to the expressive characters, there is a lot to enjoy visually in this issue. Fowler expertly conveys the desolation, isolation and chilly atmosphere of the world and I can’t wait to see what he does next.
