The Rundown: Trish and Jack navigate their imaginary world while the real world around them changes.
Trish and Jack travel the wasteland of their imaginary world fighting terrifying monsters and developing the villain of their story as they continue their friendship in the basement of Jack’s house. A friendship that will take their characters through dark areas of a dangerous world and face off against more dangerous enemies.
A friendship that will also be put to the test when the realities of growing up catch up with the pair. As Jack and Trish get older, the allure of social lives start to separate them, but an adult Trish makes a promise to help Jack no matter what.
The Story: Lemire crafts an engaging, compelling and intriguing story about friendship and loss. I love the shifts in the world between the reality of Trish and Jack’s friendship to the fantasy world they are building together. I continue to be invested in the mystery at the heart of the story and look forward to seeing how it unfolds.
The Art: Sorrentino delivers some beautifully crafted imagery throughout the issue. The fantasy world of the story is visually engaging and the creatures within it are unique.
