The Rundown: Booster Gold and Blue Beetle share their story with the world.
In New York, Booster and Beetle sit down for a live talk show interview. During which time they explain the nature of the contractor work. The duo also offers differing accounts of their time with the Justice League. Soon, they are interrupted by Guy Gardner, who relates his own version of the tale. Afterwards, a new enemy appears with the intent of disrupting Booster and Beetle’s plans.
The Story: In this chapter, Dan Jurgens continues his compelling portrayal of a superhero team in need of resources. Their marketing campaign for their services is enjoyable to watch. Between the talk show setting and the social media responses, I was highly entertained. What makes this team great is that they are so ordinary. Booster and Beetle are not gods, so they instead choose to become celebrities. It’s refreshing to see an angst free version of heroism. And I look forward to their upcoming installments.
The Art: A traditional comic book styling is used in this issues artwork. The detail given to the panels really make the action scenes come alive. Also, the work with character expression and form does a great job of emphasizing the emotions displayed during the story.
