The Rundown: Natasha faces a ghost from her past.

After encountering a foe from her past, Natasha goes to back to her time in Madripoor. A time when she faced an enemy that actually scared her, The Living Blade. She thinks back to a fight between herself and the Blade that almost killed her. A fight where all of her skills seemed no match for the villain’s determination to kill her.

As Natasha finds herself outmatched at every turn, she decides that escape is her best option, but the Living Blade is not making it easy on her as he continues to stalk her through the streets of the city. After fighting the man across the city, Widow finds herself in a backroom filled with people she would normally be there to stop and the Living Blade makes a surprising move when they face off against each again.

The Story: Thompson crafts a thrilling, intense and entertaining story in this issue. The story has all the elements of a great thriller and Natasha’s running commentary throughout is brilliantly done. It adds depth to the action and the story itself. Thompson manages to portray Widow’s fear and determination throughout the story and the story and narration do a brilliant job of showcasing the menace of The Living Blade without him having to say a word. I really enjoyed the turn the story took at the end and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

The Art: Pimentel and Bellaire do amazing work with the art in the issue. The classic art style is perfect for both the style of story and era of the character being shown. Even the colors are a stylistically perfect for this story.
