Letters by Joe Sabino
The Rundown: As Killmonger’s forces press their attack, Black Panther readies his forces to defend Wakanda.
Black Panther has gathered champions like Ironheart, Storm, Luke Cage, Miles Morales, Cloak, Falcon and others to help him defend Wakanda against the upcoming assault from Killmonger’s forces. Using David as an anchor for his plan, Black Panther dispatches the heroes in a series of coordinated assaults on the enemy. As the tactical threats continue to mount, the heroes might find themselves overwhelmed facing the forces of an entire empire.
What keeps them fighting beyond their own determination is the confidence of T’Challa who is working to force N’Jadaka/Killmonger onto the battle field. Taking the bait, the enemy emerges and learns that he might have an empire at his back, but he is still unprepared for the forces of Wakanda.
The Story: As a story, this issue is a little sparse, but it is intensely enjoyable. Admittedly, the joy in the issue is enhanced by seeing the black heroes of the Marvel universe banding together to defend Wakanda. Seeing heroes like Miles Morales and Luke Cage fighting side by side was exhilarating as well as seeing Monica Rambeau take to the skies to fight alongside Storm.
The Art: Acuna delivers some impressive visuals throughout this issue. The characters look fantastic and the dramatic style of the art enhances those characters while muting the backgrounds.
