The Rundown: Phae continues her investigation and discovers a new victim that will lead to a dangerous discovery.

Phaedra and Pax find themselves delving into the waters beneath the city to find their way into a dangerous location. Unfortunately, the creature that’s been stalking them is on the hunt and they barely escape before it appears again. Fortunately for them, they get some unexpected help from someone wielding powerful magic.

As the group manages to escape, they discover that the current victim of the killer they’re hunting is someone Phaedra knows. With time continuing to be against them, they discover that there has been another attack. One that will bring them to someplace dangerous and could involve someone extremely powerful.

The Story: Thompson continues to create a rich, engaging world filled with awesome noir drama and a wonderful detective story with some awesome political twists for the characters. I continue to love this world and its complicated characters, their complicated relationships and the growing stakes for them. I love the mounting tension throughout the story and Thompson brings the events and the action to a satisfying and exciting cliffhanger that makes me immediately excited to read the next issue.

The Art: McClaren delivers beautiful art on every page of this issue. The visuals are lively, brilliantly detailed and convey the tone and beauty of the world Thompson is creating in this series.
