The Rundown: Essex and Pax team up for a new case involving violent murders.

It’s been years since the incident that rocked the city of Kiros and Black Cloak Pax and his new partner have a problem with a series of violent murders and no suspect. Not knowing what his next step in the case should be, he goes seeking the one person who could possibly help him, his old partner.

After tracking down Essex to the destroyed part of the city, the three of them return to her home and discuss the case. A discussion that will reveal that they have a serial killer on their hands. A revelation that will bring them into danger when they go to visit the latest crime scene.

The Story: I really enjoy seeing Thompson return readers to this world of sci-fi fantasy and the story immediately grabbed my attention right away. The story is filled with great tension and suspense throughout. Thompson continues to craft an interesting and compelling world in this series and this issue crafts an engaging mystery for Essex and Pax to delve into. I continue to enjoy the expansive nature of this world and look forward to seeing where this story goes next.

The Art: McClaren delivers beautifully detailed art throughout this issue. I love the visual style and how it draws in the reader with amazing locations and emotional moments.
