The Rundown: Phaedra continues her investigation while her own secrets continue to grow.
After being attacked and left for dead, Phaedra is revived in the morgue by the woman she cares for. A woman who knows one of the secrets she is hiding and how the revelation of it could compromise both her life and her investigation. At the same time, Phaedra remembers her time with her former fiance and current murder victim. Times that prompt her to commit to finding his killer.
After returning to work, Phaedra and her partner interview witnesses who have something interesting to tell them about the night in question. Information she will have to consider when she returns home to find that she is not alone.
The Story: Thompson continues to craft an engaging mystery in this issue that takes some interesting twists and turns with both the characters and the world they inhabit. I continue to be impressed with the story and how it is unfolding both with the personal stakes for Phaedra and the growing stakes for her society. I also love the fact that there is a secret within her as well. One that could have huge consequences for her investigation. I’m excited to see where the story goes from here.
The Art: McClaren delivers some beautiful art throughout the issue. I love the different looks of the characters and how they expand and better illustrate the diversity of the world.
