The career resurgence of comedian Eddie Murphy continues with another film based on one of his most famous characters.
According to Deadline, Eddie Murphy will return to the role of street-wise Detroit cop Axel Foley, but not for Paramount. Netflix and Paramount have come to a one-time license deal that will allow the streaming service to make a fourth Beverly Hills Cop film with Murphy starring and Jerry Bruckheimer producing.
This will be the fourth film in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise which started in 1984 with the original film directed by Martin Brest. For those unfamiliar, the Beverly Hills Cop franchise focuses on Detroit police detective Axel Foley who finds himself traveling to the sunny skies of Beverly Hills when investigations call him to the west coast.
Eddie Murphy can currently be seen in the comedy “Dolemite is my Name” and is currently filming the sequel to Coming to America. He will also be returning to the show that launched his career when he hosts Saturday Night Live later this year.
