The Rundown: The evil hunting the Mongrel King arrives in the new world and has designs on making it his own.
The demon sorcerer who took everything from the Berserker has come through the portal and is hunting for him. Hidden away with his new friend, the Berserker decides to embrace who and what he is in order to take down the forces around his target.
The Berserker will make his final stand against the wizard to get the revenge he seeks for the loss of his wife and daughter, or he will die fighting on foreign soil. What neither suspects is that his new friends presence introduces an unexpected third option.
The Story: Jeff Lemire brings this story to a satisfying and exciting conclusion. There are great character moments throughout. The story is engrossing and the dialogue is fantastic. You can see the bond between the Berserker and his friend and their shared loss transcends their language barrier. I really enjoyed how this issue ended and the twists that leave the door open to more adventures to come.
The Art: Mike Deodato Jr is a master at visual storytelling. He takes the story Lemire is telling and elevates everything about it with visuals that are brutal, beautiful and full of emotion. An amazing looking book from start to finish.
