The upcoming third feature film with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will feature another MCU alum.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Benedict Cumberbatch will appear in the third Spider-Man feature film from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.
Doctor Strange and Spider-Man first appeared on screen together in Avengers: Infinity War and it looks like the Sorcerer Supreme will be taking on the mentor role previously held by Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury.
Strange’s appearance in the film will probably explain the return of Jamie Foxx’s Electro as the next Doctor Strange film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, will see the doctor take on a threat to the alternate realities of the multiverse.
Jon Watts is returning for the third film with previous Spider-Man cast members Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori and Jacob Batalon expected to return. The third Spider-Man film is set to begin shooting in Atlanta later this month with a proposed December 2021 release.
The Doctor Strange sequel is expected to start filming in London soon as well with Sam Raimi in the director’s chair.
