The Rundown: Ben searches for the person who is sending his enemies against him and discovers the answer is closer than he thinks.
Ben Reilly can’t catch a break even when trying to go back into the world. Not when Carolyn Trainer decides to hold one of his friends hostage to bait him into a fight. Ben springs into action, but the anger that’s been building in him makes things difficult. His fight takes a dramatic and unexpected turn when his dancer partner changes and Ben realizes that something else is going on with the constant attacks on him.
After another attack, Ben becomes more determined to discover who is using his enemies to attack him. As a serial killer continues to murder women throughout the city, Ben travels to Ravencroft to seek answers from someone he suspects might be involved. Coming up short, Ben returns to work only to find himself facing the creature he’s been fighting. A creature who knows everything about him. A creature who wants him dead.
The Story: J.M. DeMatteis delivers some great action in this issue. There are awesome character moments with Ben and DeMatteis does a fantastic job of separating his personality from Peter Parker’s. Ben is his own person and anyone who reads this issue will get a sense of the unique personality of the character. The story is fun, thrilling and comes together to a great cliffhanger.
The Art: David Baldeon delivers some fantastic visuals on every page. The art captures the thrills, action and adventure of the story perfectly with some beautifully detailed panels.
