The Rundown: Heroes take on new threats in Gotham and beyond.
Batman: Pygmalion Part 2
“Batman” takes to the skies when the signal calls and finds himself running into Catwoman who has an offer to make him after discovering who he is with and why. After finding Gordon, he is surrounded by armed men and a familiar face who will force him to see the truth. Unfortunately, his secret becomes known by the wrong people putting his new family in danger.
The story has a great twist that I was not expecting. I thought it would be a tragic amnesia story and it takes a turn I didn’t see and was delighted to discover. The story has some great art as well and I look forward to seeing how it ends.
Wild Dog: Here Comes Trouble Part 1
Wild Dog finds himself taking on a supervillain who has decided to make Wild Dog’s hometown his base of operations. After discovering the new player in town and taking down some of his men, Wild Dog decides to investigate who the new villain in town is and learns he’s recruiting new talent.
Wild Dog is one of those characters who you either love or hate for the most part. I unfortunately, find myself in a third category of being indifferent. He’s not a bad character, but he is far from being compelling or particularly interesting. The story has some good humor in it and great art, but everything else felt flat.
Aquaman: Communion Part 1
A fish from the far depths of the ocean risks everything to find Aquaman. After being rescued, Aquaman follows the creature to the trench it escaped from and discovers that there is an alien presence beneath the water creating a weapon that could be used against the Earth. A weapon that will force Aquaman to team with an unexpected ally.
An entertaining short story that has an interesting premise and great art.
The Wager
A killer being hunted by Batman finds himself the target of something darker and more powerful, the demon Etrigan. Summoned to bring justice to a killer of children, Etrigan hunts the man through the city and finds his mission interrupted by a wager with Batman that could hopefully save lives and prevent unnecessary destruction.
An entertaining short story that has some great character moments and an engaging and compelling ending.
