The Rundown: Robin’s adventures in the past will include a murder mystery in a familiar setting.
After being stranded in the past, Disck Grayson knew that he couldn’t wait aroud for someone to rescue him, so he hits the road. He finds himself in some familiar territory when he joins a traveling circus as a high wire performer, leaving clues to his location along the road. After becoming a part of the circus family, Dick finds himself in the middle of a murder mystery after two men are seemingly killed by circus animals.
Batman and Superman follow the clues left by Robin and make their way to the past where they locate the missing hero. After seeing how Dick is doing, the pair decide to join the show in order to help Robin find a killer.
The Story: After the intensity of the previous arc, Waid does a great job of giving the reader a solid story with a great focus on Dick Grayson as both hero and detective in his own right. I love the lighter tone to this issue and how Bruce and Clark get brought into the story. There is some great action in the issue, but the fun atmosphere and tone reminds me of early stories from the silver age, which is good.
The Art: Moore does a great job bringing the spectacle to life with the art while also showcasing the uniqueness of the characters as well.
