The Rundown: Batman and Superman rally heroes to battle Darkseid as David makes a dangerous decision.
With Gog down and a handful of heroes gathered, Darkseid emerges from a boom tube to steal Gog’s power. Knowing they can’t take on Darkseid alone, Batman tells David to gather the rest of the heroes while both Supermen go after Darkseid. As Darkseid decimates the gathered heroes, David ignores Batman’s order and tries to stop Darkseid the only way he can.
In the aftermath of the battle, David must deal with the consequences of his actions while Batman and Superman discover the dark future that awaits the world they are trapped on.
The Story: Waid brings this arc to a wonderfully thrilling and entertaining conclusion. I continued to enjoy the connections to the Kingdom Come universe and the final culmination of David’s story and the consequences of his decisions. The story has great action throughout as well as wonderful moments with the characters that make me excited to see what happens with the next arc in the series.
The Art: Dan Mora delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. Mora crafts some beautiful action sequences as well as one of the best visual depictions of Darkseid I’ve ever seen.
