The Rundown: Batman and Superman team with their doubles to save David and stop a war.
Teaming with their doubles from an alternate Earth, Batman and Superman race to stop David before he and Gog can open a portal to Apokalips and plunge the planet into war with Darkseid. As the heroes prepare for battle, the duos confront and separate David while the Supermen face off against Gog himself.
Batman fights to convince David of the truth behind Gog’s plan and as the heroes arrive to stop the attack, Gog opens the boom tube and the heroes find themselves facing a bigger, more powerful threat.
The Story: A thrilling, exciting and tension filled story that I was immediately immersed in because of Waid’s ability to plunge the reader into the action and raise the stakes throughout the plot. There is a great emotional journey in the issue with David and I continue to love the dynamic between the characters and how they work together. I love the rising suspense in the story and the cliffhanger makes me excited to see where this story ends.
The Art: Dan Mora’s art is beautifully detailed, brilliantly engaging and stunning in both its character designs and action.
