The Rundown: Batman and Superman discover the truth behind David’s allegiance to Gog.
Batman and Superman find themselves facing off against their allies who have been brainwashed by Gog before his ascension plan. As the two heroes fight, David continues to poison the alternate Superman and Batman, but something is wrong.
After being captured, Bruce and Clark discover the truth about what has happened to the villains of their world and they discover not only a familiar face sharing their cell, but that person’s connection to Gog’s rise to power and what his plan is for the planet and the heroes on it.
The Story: Waid delivers some fantastic action and thrills throughout this issue. I love the return to this arc and its connection to the Kingdom Come universe. I also love that these characters remain consistent throughout the multiverse. The story has some great twists in it and I loved not only the reveal in the issue, but also the ending and what it means for the adventure going forward.
The Art: Dan Mora’s art is sublime. It features some brilliantly detailed action scenes and I love the character designs and compositions.
