The Rundown: Batman and Superman find themselves investigating a murder with a mutual friend as the prime suspect.
After finishing a case with their respective proteges, Batman and Superman part. Unfortunately, the murder of a prominent billionaire in Metropolis will bring Batman back to the city with Robin. At the same time, Clark and Jimmy are sent to investigate the same case and Clark decides to let Jimmy investigate on his own.
After investigating the body, Batman and Superman decide to confront their prime suspect, Metamorpho. After helping the hero stop a robbery, Batman has some tough questions for him. When Jimmy confronts Clark with the evidence he’s gathered on the case, Clark finds himself in a tough spot when the story points to someone he trusts.
The Story: Waid is crafting a solid, engaging and compelling mystery in this first issue. The characters are great and I love the way both teams conduct their investigations independently of each other. It gives a great insight into the characters skills as well as adds a new dimension to Jimmy Olsen that I enjoyed. I really enjoyed the twist towards the end of the issue and I look forward to seeing how it plays out in the next issue.
The Art: Dan Mora’s art is stunning. Not only does it capture the characters perfectly, but the action is visually stunning and I love the visual progression of the story.
