The Rundown: Batman and Superman bear witness to an interesting event.
Robin finds himself sitting alone in the Batcave working on something when Batman arrives. Something that will prompt the Dark Knight to ask him how his date went. A date with Supergirl. At the same time, Clark is making breakfast while his cousin tells him what happened that prompted her to ask out Robin in the first place.
As the two tell their sides of what becomes a disastrous date, the story goes from the uncomfortable to the fantastic as their awkward conversations are put aside to stop a monkey and a runaway truck filled with bowling balls.
The Story: Waid crafts a fun and funny standalone story for Robin and Supergirl in this issue. What also works is having Bruce and Clark being on the sidelines helping their respective proteges deal with their feelings. It’s a fun story that doesn’t get in its own way with some big distraction that switches the focus away from the characters. A overall charming story that was very enjoyable.
The Art: Lupacchino delivers some beautifully detailed art that perfectly complements the style and tone of the story.
