The Rundown: The Secret Six prepare to enact the Batman Who Laughs plan and both Bruce and Clark might have to sacrifice everything to stop it.
The Secret Six are preparing to bring the Batman Who Laughs twisted version of the Watchtower through a portal to our universe and once it arrives, it will infect the entire world the same way it has the six heroes. Bruce and Clark go it alone trying to stop them all from completing their plan while also appealing to the heroes that they believe they can reach.
Batman must take on Blue Beetle directly in a way that will leave him vulnerable to the power of the scarab and Clark will discover that the Batman Who Laughs is more sadistic than he imagined as he goes to destroy the Watchtower. At the same time, the Batman Who Laughs calls two of his infected to enact a new plan.
The Story: This was a big issue. There is a lot going on in this issue and the conclusion has some very satisfying moments. Williamson does a great job of writing the characters and the plot has a satisfying amount of tension throughout it. Nothing feels resolved and that’s both annoying and okay. The overall plot seemed way too big for the finale, but the final moment in the issue promises that something even more interesting is about to happen next.
The Art: David Marquez has some great visuals throughout the issue. It really ramped up to great art when Superman sees what’s inside the Watchtower. That moment and the art afterwards was filled with action.
