The Rundown: The Man of Steel and the Dark Knight are face to face with a threat they never thought they would face; The Shazam Who Laughs.
Billy has been infected by the Batman Who Laughs and he utilizes his powers as a hero and his guise as a boy to distract Superman during the fight. A fight that will take everything both heroes have to survive.
In the aftermath, both heroes regroup to decide on their next plan of action and after analyzing the batarangs the Batman Who Laughs plans to use on other heroes, Superman comes up with a plan that might get them the information they need to stop him. Unfortunately, in order to get that data, they will have to release him with some super powered help.
The Story: This second issue has some amazing moments throughout and a mystery that caught and held my attention throughout. There are so many well done plot points developing in this series that I find myself wanting to dive deeper into some moments as new ones are revealed. Taking time to follow another one of the infected as he keeps BWL’s plans going is another great plot moment because it adds more mystery including who he’s talking to and is it the same person each time.
The Art: David Marquez has some impressive and well done art in this issue. The fight with Shazam looks amazing and the all of the action has some beautiful, dramatic character renderings throughout.
