Ultra Humanite is in control of Batman and has not only given him the powers of Atomic Skull, but implanted a bomb in him if he disobeys orders. After taking to the streets to test out his control of the Dark Knight, Batman returns to Humanite’s base so he can begin his plan to kill Superman.

When the Man of Steel arrives, Humanite activates Batman and pits the heroes against each other. When the bomb inside Bruce is activated, Superman will have to make a deadly choice to either save his friend of save the city from a massive nuclear explosion.

The Story: Joshua Williamson brings this storyline to a close not with a big fight, but with the characters using their wits and their friendship to communicate to each other. It’s a good ending. There is a part of me that wishes it had gone a little longer. I liked the Atomic Batman and wanted to see how far Ultra Humanite could push the Dark Knight in his condition. I liked seeing Clark use detective skills and that moment showcased that Superman is more than just brawn. The wrap up conversation between the two heroes was a little dry, but it worked. A well done issue that has an even better ending.

The Art: Clayton Henry has some great art throughout this issue The first scene with Atomic Batman is awesome and the fight between Ultra Humanite and Superman was full of energy.
