The Rundown: Batman and Killer Croc find themselves in a compromising situation.
Batman and Killer Croc discuss a new development. When the mysterious reptile creature goes on the attack, the two must find a way to escape its presence. After an interesting conversation, Batman forms a plan involving Volkov. When that plan falls through, Batman makes a bold decision.
The Story: The penultimate chapter of this series explores the nature of Croc’s closest relation. Ennis crafts some pretty disturbing imagery as he allows Batman to theorize the reason behind the creature’s actions. And I appreciate the way he is able to combine science and fantasy in his interpretations.
Also. I am very fascinated by this iteration of the Dark Knight. This chapter shows a particular humanity in the character unseen before in this series, even in regard to his relationship with Killer Croc. I would love to delve more into his psyche, and I hope after this series end, this version of Batman will appear again.
The Art: As always, Sharp delivers impressive, hyper detailed illustrations to create his disturbing vision of Gotham City. The pages give off an eerie, dark tone that perfectly expresses the mood of the story and captures the imagination of the readers.
