The Rundown: Bruce will face Omega for the fate of the world and the truth of his return will change everything about his mission.
After learning that Omega is getting ready to activate a signal that will control everyone on the planet, Bruce must convince Dick, Barbara and the rest of this former allies that Omega’s overconfidence in his victory is the reason they need to strike sooner rather than later.
Using tech from Mad Hatter and a plan Bruce believes will take Omega by surprise, they infiltrate Wayne Tower and head for the rebuilt Wayne Manor. As the team breaks up, Wonder Woman will find a former ally powering the doomsday device and Bruce will discover that his resurrection was not some random occurrence.
The Story: If this is the last Batman story Scott Snyder ever writes, he goes out on a massive win with this finale. Everything about this issue affirms what is endearing about Batman as a character, force of nature, potential threat and human savior. Snyder has always made Bruce better through the people he surrounds himself with and that trend continues in this issue with Bruce’s potential victory hinging on his allies and an old enemy. This is a masterfully plotted issue that is a love letter to the Dark Knight and a new beginning for a world worth visiting again in the future.
The Art: Greg Capullo’s art is amazing. He fills the characters with brilliant details and the action is composed like a brutal, beautiful dance. Every panel is gorgeous to look at and they complement the tone of the story perfectly.
